How To Host A 90s Party

Jun 26, 2013

This past weekend we finally had the chance to host another party! We decided on a 90s theme for the event, knowing our guests would enjoy the nostalgia this theme would offer. We had so much fun listening to our favorite 90s songs and playing 90s trivia!

As guests immediately entered our home, they were greeted by a wall of confetti. I was so tempted to leave this confetti up, it brings such festiveness to the room!

Video cassettes acted as risers on the table, more on this later!

And it wouldn’t be a 90s party without koosh balls, right?

A gnarly 90s trivia wall was set up. This was a great way to initiate guest interaction without having a formal game, with rules or teams. The trivia could be played with various amounts of people and provided the opportunity for people to get acquainted with another. I’ll be sharing the details later this week!

Do from Piggy Bank Parties customized these banners to include slang terms from the 90s. These banners were hung over the DIY nacho bar.

The centerpiece was hands down my favorite detail! I chose to use my childhood backpack as the ‘vase’ for the florals. That’s right, this backpack is the real deal!

Our signature cocktail was a cotton candy vodka lemonade, topped with blue curacao.

To keep with the 90s theme a selection of snacks aka junk food was made available outside on the patio.

Smaller floral arrangements were housed by audio cassette vases,  check out this tutorial to make your own.

Guests were encouraged to wear attire that was 90s inspired. I chose a floral dress with a jean vest, fortunately 90s fashion is in right now!
