Watermelon Place Setting DIY

Watermelon-Place-Card-6

I have to admit, this was one of the easiest and most fun DIY’s I have created to date! I love dreaming up new place settings and place cards, and using one of summer’s freshest fruits seemed like a great idea. A place setting you can eat? Yes please!

This DIY is also a fun way to get your little ones involved in helping to set the table. They will love that you are giving them the opportunity to play with their food!

Supplies:

A watermelon wedge

Mini alphabet cookie cutters

Step 1: Slice your watermelon wedge into a fairly thin (about 1/2 inch) even slice so your letters will be level. Pick out the cookie cutters that correspond to the letters in the names you are using.

Step 2: Begin using the cookie cutter to cut the name out of your watermelon. I found that it was helpful to push the watermelon out of the cookie cutter with the flat side of a toothpick to preserve the shape of the watermelon letters. Place the cut outs above your watermelon slice to create a pop-out effect.

Repeat step 2 until you have finished cutting out the entire name.

Serve your watermelon with a fresh fruit salad and some sparkling watermelon Izze, and you’ve got a great little breakfast or brunch!
